Meet Be Bilingual's Instructors

Carolina Llamozas: A Venezuelan native, is a graduate of the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, where she majored in Modern Languages. Prior to relocating to Houston and teaching for Be Bilingual, Carolina taught English and Spanish as a second language in Venezuela and in Washington, DC. She enjoys teaching others to communicate in a foreign language and especially loves making the language learning experience fun, interesting and challenging.
Denise Canedy: A native of Minnesota and graduate from the University of Minnesota, Denise lived overseas for many years before arriving in Houston. She received a certificate in TEFL from the British Council and International TEFL Teacher Training while living in Singapore and taught ESL there. In Houston, she put her experience to use at the Intensive English Institute, the Fort Bend Literacy Council and Be Bilingual. She has twenty years of experience teaching all ESL levels, subjects and the following skills: grammar, accent reduction, TOFEL exam preparation, business English and presentation skills. She loves to meet people from all over the world and designs her lessons to meet the individual needs of each student. She believes that learning English can be fun!
Denise Larsson: Denise is from the German speaking part of Switzerland and she relocated to Houston 4 years ago. She has a degree in Education and Intercultural Management. Before coming to the U.S., she lived in Dubai and helped local students and employees of German companies to master the German language. Languages in general were always her passion. Her teaching objective is to find out about her students goals and learning styles and guide them successfully through the German language culture.
Elaine Tercic: Elaine, a native of Brazil, has been working in some form of Portuguese for 25 years, including teaching and writing, or reviewing professional business texts. Elaine’s teaching objective is to identify the needs of the student and address these in a pleasant, easy and efficient manner.
Ernest Arganous Gobran: Ernest, an Egyptian descendent and a graduate of Cairo University in Business Administration, has a passion for the Arabic language. His father, a retired school principal and teacher, instilled this love for Arabic literature from childhood. Currently, Ernest is a writer for a number of Arabic periodicals, an author of book series, as well as an editor for a California based magazine. He loves to teach and seeks to bestow the beauty of Arabic to all his students.
Gaby Cabrera: Gaby began teaching English in 1994 at a language school in Mexico City. She followed that experience with another position teaching English at Universidad Autónoma de México, focusing mainly on reading comprehension. She then taught in the Language Department at Instituto Politécnico Nacional. After relocating to the United States, she volunteered her time teaching ESL at the Second Baptist Church school. She then joined the Be Bilingual team and has been teaching with us since 2003. Gaby’s students say that they feel confident and at ease when learning Spanish under her guidance.
Gloria Ginyovszky: Before joining Be Bilingual, Gloria Ginyovszky taught English as a Second Language for seven years at a private school in her native country of Venezuela. Upon relocating to the U.S. Gloria began teaching all levels of Spanish, and has continued to do so for the last eight years. Gloria’s objective is to motivate her students to feel comfortable understanding and speaking Spanish.
Helena Nunez-Mestre: Born and raised in Barcelona (Spain), Helena finished a Master’s Degree in Humanities while she was learning German in Tubingen (Germany).
Since she was young she has been traveling and experiencing the fun of learning other languages and different cultures. In 2002 she was relocated to Costa Rica and there she began teaching Spanish in a Language School specializing in accurate Spanish pronunciation and grammar. She is also skilled in preparing or translating speeches from English to Spanish or Catalan (both her native languages). She arrived in Houston three years ago, and in 2008 she begun working as a Spanish instructor for Be Bilingual. Helena enjoys teaching at all levels and encourages students to feel comfortable with their learning.
Julie Brewer: Was born in Houston, TX. She studied Spanish at the University of Houston. After graduating in 2006, she moved to Costa Rica where she obtained her TEFL certification. She taught corporate and private ESL classes in the capital city of San Jose for 2 years, working with all age groups and levels, including group business classes at companies such as HP and Procter & Gamble. As a foreign language learner herself, she understands the challenges and frustrations of learning a new language and enjoys the opportunity of helping others reach their language goals. She has been teaching at Be Bilingual since 2009.
Marlen Torres: She graduated as a History Professor in 1992 in her hometown of La Habana, Cuba. She worked as a Professor in the Universidad de las Artes de la Habana, teaching History, Philosophy and Spanish to foreigners. She decided to continue teaching her native language after arriving to the United States in 2002. She has been teaching children and adults in several ways: Tutoring, Continuing Education in the Lone Star College System, and currently at Be Bilingual. She is also doing her Master's in Spanish as a Second Language. Being in the classroom, teaching, communicating, interacting, learning about other cultures and exchanging ideas with students is one of her greatest strengths.
Muriel Barriol: A native of France, Muriel has more than 10 years of experience tutoring all levels of the French language. She especially enjoys the one-on-one interaction with her students, and helping them gain confidence in speaking as well as mastering the French language.
Piedad Alvarado: Joining Be Bilingual from Niteroi City in Rio de Janeiro, Piedade has been teaching Portuguese to adults for over 14 years. To obtain the best teaching results with each student, Piedade adjusts to each student’s unique learning style, pace and comfort level. As a result Piedade’s lessons are successful, enjoyable and stress free.
Sandra Lau: Sandra was born in Trujillo, the third largest city in Peru and was brought up in the beautiful beach town of Pacasmayo. From an early age, Sandra knew that she wanted to teach, and has done so in Peru, Italy, and Houston. With a degree in education, Sandra speaks Spanish and Italian. Sandra enjoys teaching students of all ages. Seeing her students learn remains the motivation for all of her lessons.
Simone Giles: A native of Brazil, Simone studied Modern Languages: Portuguese - English at Catholic University of Minas Gerais. She has been teaching all levels of Portuguese for more than 10 years. Her objective is to give her students confidence in speaking, writing & reading.
Stephanie Le Petit: Stephanie is a French native who earned her Master’s Degree in English in France and completed her Teaching Certification (PGCE) in England. Prior to relocating to Houston in 2009, Stephanie had been teaching all levels of French for 8 years in schools in England, Egypt and Mexico. Thanks to her teaching background, she is equally comfortable delivering lessons on a one-on-one basis or to large groups. Stephanie genuinely believes that successful learning can only be achieved if turned into an enjoyable, purposeful and stimulating experience.
Evelyne Sauvagnac: A native French speaker, Evelyne worked as a French primary teacher before specializing in teaching French as second language to adults. Since 2006, Evelyne has taught the French language for Be Bilingual to adults in the Houston area. Her extensive experience and personality make her at ease in one on one interaction as well with as with group teaching. Evelyne teaches all levels of French courses.
I really enjoyed the group Spanish lessons. It was a great way to learn a new language and interact with other people. It gave us the opportunity to learn as we helped each other out as well!
The book was easy to follow and good for individuals or groups. The instructor was great and made the class fun! I looked forward to my classes each week! It is a very professional organization and I highly recommend the (Corporate) group lessons!
